Our fibula brooches can be worn as you would any brooch, on lapels or shoulder area but they are also great for holding our shawls and wollens together.
Fibulas are a design of functional jewellery which date back to Roman times. Made from one piece of metal and decorated with a piece of art glass, they work on the safety-pin method to secure draping fabric. The Romans used them at the right shoulder to fasten togas but we use them to grip woolen jackets or cardigans, at the waist of a wrapover dress or with shawls, pahminas and capes. Beautifully decorative and so simple to use.
