One ammonite, sliced in two and highly polished to reveal the complex and beautiful interior of it's many chambers, some of which have are crystallised.
Ammonites were relatives of squids and nautili which thrived in the seas during the time of the dinosaurs. Their name originates from the Greek ram-horned god Ammon. There were many different varieties, ranging in size from a penny to a tractor tyre.
